Birchotan is made from birch grown in well managed forests in the arctic region of Sweden. Our suppliers of wood adhere to strict environmental and social responsibility charters.
As wood is a renewable fuel, we also aim for the manufacture of Birchotan to be 100% fossil fuel free. The main part of the process is fuelled by renewable energy, generated on-site through solar panels.
We aim to use electric machinery and vehicles to a large extent. If electric machinery or vehicles are unavailable due to technological limitations, we use renewable fuels as far as possible.
All staff involved in the manufacture of Birchotan are employed with full collective agreement benefits and are paid above Swedish minimum wage.
